1. Hang furniture
A great idea that can free up floor space is to hang chairs from trees in your garden. Hanging chairs is not only practical to add seating areas but also helps to save space in a smaller garden. This can be added to a corner of your garden to serve as a quiet reading area.
2. Add a gallery wall
Adding a gallery wall doesn’t take up space in your garden and still adds interest whilst providing a great accent wall. It can be done easily by hanging up plant pots, the same way you would hang up pictures inside your house. This is also an inexpensive method as you can use old plant pots that you already own, to give more of a rustic look.
3. Garden mirrors
One way to make your garden look bigger than it really is, is to add a garden mirror. You can use an indoor mirror for this and add some greenery around it or even add an old garden trellis or gate over the top to look more suitable.
4. Add a level
Adding a raised lawn is a good way to provide more space to add garden furniture. Using the ledges along the lawn and steps can give you extra space to add plant pots and other types of garden décors. A mix of levels in your garden can also create an illusion of more foliage than there actually is.
5. Use colour
A bold, vibrant colour on the walls or fences in your garden can help to bring depth into the space. This can allow the plants in front of these walls and fences to really pop and give an illusion of a wider garden space.
6. Wall mount a garden bar
A garden bar is great for entertaining but can also take up a lot of room in your garden. An idea to help save space whilst still being able to achieve the same idea, is to mount a small wooden pallet (with a sheet of softer material on top) onto the wall or garden fence and attach a chain so that you are able to put up and store the bar away when it is not in use. This can then be easily pulled down when it is needed, this is space saving and still ideal for when you have guests.
7. Add outdoor lighting
Adding lighting in your garden can help extended the look of your space, while also being practical in the evening. There are different ways you can add lighting to your garden. For example, adding path lights along your decking or wall lights fitted to walls or fencing.
