Modern country garden

about this project

This project near Albrighton, Wolverhampton was developed around the client’s vision for their newly purchased property. Having bought an old Victorian schoolhouse that was outdated and too small for their needs, the family added a new extension that managed to sympathetically blend a modern mix of material in with the original Victorian building. Once the extension was complete, a new outdoor area was required to complement the finished property.

A sharp and clean porcelain paving was suggested for the key seating areas, incorporating some blue engineering bricks from the same manufacturer as the roof tiles on the house, to tie the garden and house designs together. In addition, a very traditional and timeless natural Peak stone was used to build the retaining walls and steps.

As the substantial-sized pond in the garden creates a wonderful anchor point when viewed through the large glass doors, the addition of some soft and naturalistic planting helped to complete the desired effect.

Finally, the existing Beech hedge was continued throughout the garden to provide form and structure..
